Our Current Work

We are working with Post Oil Solutions, a Brattleboro, Vt based organization whose goal is "to learn about and develop sustainable practices in our homes, neighborhoods, and larger communities, so as to begin creating the infrastructure in our region necessary for a post oil society." We are focusing on a Food Security project for low income families in our area. With the rising cost of fuel and food, and the increasing numbers of people who are relying on the food shelf, we are working to provide access to locally grown and produced food. This includes organizing community gardens, a gleaning project, and donation gardens, and all the while we are looking for ways to fundamentally alter the current food system to make it equitable. We are working to increase the ability of low income communities to grow their own food, and to make it possible for low income families to afford CSAs (community supported agriculture). Throughout our work we are learning with others about how racism and classism affect access to food. As part of this we are attending, organizing, and facilitating workshops both on the food system and anti-racist organizing.
